BMMHS Celebrates VE Day 80th Anniversary
We are delighted to announce that BMMHS has donated funds to the local Royal British Legion branch to enable the purchase of a ‘silhouette soldier’ to be located at the war memorial in Woodcote.
Chairman Andy Cockeram said ‘It is important that the sacrifices made by the British people over 80 years ago during World War Two are remembered and recognised by this and future generations. BMMHS is proud to support the local Royal British Legion branch and its contribution to the very important 80th anniversary of VE Day.’
Sandie Bartholomew, who has helped to raise funds for RBL said, ‘May I take this opportunity on behalf of myself and residents of Woodcote to thank you and the members of the British Modern Military History Society and its supporters for your wonderful support. The ‘Standing with Giants’ silhouette soldier became a symbol of remembrance and tribute at last year’s 80th D-Day anniversary in Normandy, and we are proud show our support for servicemen and women in Woodcote’.
